10.5 tonnes (this is for Europe as a whole, not just the EU 27). The global average was 7. North America and Oceania were at 23, Russia at 13.5, Asia at 4.5 (including China at 5 and India at 1.8) and sub-Saharan Africa at 4.5.
Energy used per unit of GDP (compared to USA)
A figure for the EU economy as a whole is not available, but the major European economies include: Italy 57%, UK 62%, Spain 64.5%, Germany 75%, France 78% and Netherlands 80%. Sweden is at 98%.
