healthier, happier and richer

Last week the Sun published an article by me on shale gas https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/1997618/as-a-lifelong-green-im-convinced-frackings-the-only-solution-to-energy-problems/. The journalist I worked with on the text was excellent, and I had full editorial control. In the article I say that shale gas is part of the answer. The headline writer then wrote that I think it is “the only solution”. I don’t. I think it is PART OF the solution. But that’s headline writers for you – and to be fair I’ve had similar experiences with broadsheet newspapers.

I don’t read the Sun. But campaigning is not about preaching to the converted, and a chance to communicate with its 6 million readers was worth taking.

On the back of the article, I was invited by the BBC to go to Lancashire and film a short ‘soap box’ film,  and then to go and debate it with an anti-fracking activist on today’s Daily Politics. The film and subsequent debate can be viewed here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-37751012
